Blue Springs Jiu-Jitsu is an established educational facility that has proudly served the Kansas City area for over 33 years. As a progressive martial arts school, we are dedicated to the growth and development of our students—both on and off the mat. Our mission is to build confidence, self-esteem, and strong character in each individual through the disciplined practice of martial arts.

About the Owner

Mr. Marble is the owner of the school and a certified teacher in the state of Missouri. He holds a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and an Education Specialist degree in Educational Administration from the University of Missouri. With over 20 years of experience teaching high school, his passion for education and making a lasting, positive impact on others is evident in everything he does.

Mr. Marble began studying martial arts at the age of 13 and credits it with helping shape his character and discipline. He is a two-stripe black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under multiple-time world champion Master Renato Tavares. He also holds a 4th-degree black belt in Judo and a Level 6 rank in Kali under Ty Campos.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu - Adult classes

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu - children's classes

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is one of the best activities a child can do—not just for fitness, but for life.
Through consistent training, kids build strength, flexibility, and improved coordination. BJJ also teaches focus and discipline, helping young minds stay sharp and goal-oriented. Kali - (Weapons Based Martial Art)

Training in the Filipino martial art of Kali (also known as Eskrima or Arnis) offers benefits that go far beyond self-defense.
This dynamic, weapons-based system also includes empty-hand techniques, making it both practical and mentally engaging. From day one, Kali teaches you how to use sticks, knives, and improvised weapons—giving you a real-world edge in self-protection.

Kali training improves coordination, speed, agility, and reflexes through focused footwork, striking drills, and fluid movement transitions. It emphasizes flow, rhythm, and pattern drills (like sinawali), helping your mind react quickly and instinctively without overthinking.

Judo Program

Training in Judo offers a wide range of benefits that build strength, confidence, and character—making it one of the most well-rounded martial arts in the world.
Developed by Dr. Jigoro Kano in 1882, Judo means “the gentle way” and focuses on leverage, balance, and technique over brute force.

Judo teaches how to control or subdue an opponent using throws, trips, and takedowns. Students also learn pins, holds, and submissions to neutralize threats without the need for striking.

Regular practice develops explosive power, endurance, and full-body strength, while also improving coordination and mental toughness. Judo emphasizes respect, patience, and the importance of pushing through setbacks in order to grow.
